The winding road that leads through the park is a beautiful sight covered in Spanish moss. Friendly cyclists ride right past you and signs for RV and Tent camping pass as you drive in. Once you pull up to the fort, one experiences a wave of chills. There’s a lot of energy surrounding the buildings, some calm and some terrifying.             Upon exploring this eerie fort, if you stumble upon an underground tunnel behind the prison building, enter carefully. As soon as you pull up to park, you’re greeted by a winding trail through the woods. The cicadas will ring loud in your ears as you walk. Every once in a while, you’ll see a butterfly flutter past you and soon the sound of the waves will reveal themselves. In order to move from trail to beach, one must do a little dance with the trees, over and then under. A giant fallen tree now blocks the entrance, but it sure is a fun adventure just to touch the sand. Once you’ve made it onto the beach, it feels like you’ve entered a magical graveyard. Enormous fallen trees scatter the beach, their height towers over you. Whenever you’re standing next to one, it has this strange, but intriguing, power to make you feel very small and insignificant. That feeling may turn off some people, however it really puts
